| description | Crystaltronics is a low-cost, open-source, crystal growth monitoring system developed by Roan Alvarez for the collaborative residency project with Sam Feleo at Bukas Lab under University of the Philippines Open University - Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (UPOU-FICS). Currently, the monitoring system is presented as a freeform circuit composed of an ESP32 microcontroller, ESP32 Camera module, non-contact liquid sensor, DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor, and a 1206 LCD display. The sensors, which are connected to the ESP32 microcontroller, continuously monitors the real-time conditions of the crystals and sends email notifications if the liquid level and/or temperature is below the declared threshold. The ESP32 Camera, on the other hand, takes a photo of the crystal every 10 minutes. The freeform circuit is mounted on the lid of individual tanks to monitor and document the conditions of crystal growth. |
